Now I remember why you can't always judge a book by its cover. Based on the cover of Impaler's It Won't Die, I was expecting some awful grindcore death-gore metal band who would find musical talent only after having every member replaced. Well, I was wrong. Impaler is actually a very fun, amusing punk-metal-rock band that is fun in the same way that old Lizzy Borden was. Simply sticking with a basic, straightforward heavy musical attack and tuneful punk-ish vocals, Impaler knows that just having a good time is the most important thing for their band. You won't find the meaning of existence in their lyrics nor will you see them in Guitar World anytime soon, but this gets the hearty Good Fun® seal of approval from SSMT.
